All Rounder Cricket Shop | SHX Cricket
At All Rounder Cricket Shop and SHX Cricket, we are committed to supplying quality cricket equipment and providing a fair, transparent warranty assessment process.
All warranty claims are assessed individually, taking into consideration the product’s age, condition, usage, maintenance, nature of the damage, applicable manufacturer’s warranty and South African consumer protection legislation.
1. Warranty Periods
The following warranty periods apply to eligible products, subject to the relevant warranty terms:
| Product Category | Warranty Period |
|---|---|
| Cricket Bats | 6 Months |
| Cricket Bags and Protective Equipment | 3 Months |
| Cricket Shoes | 1 Month |
| Cricket Helmets | 3 Months, subject to manufacturer coverage |
| Cricket Balls and Specialist Products | Case-by-case assessment |
These periods represent the applicable commercial or manufacturer warranty arrangements and do not replace or limit statutory consumer rights.
Warranty coverage for products from other brands may differ according to the manufacturer’s specific terms.
2. Cricket Bat Warranty and Natural Willow Characteristics
Cricket bats are manufactured from natural willow, which is subject to wear, compression and changes in appearance through regular use.
The following characteristics do not automatically constitute manufacturing defects:
- Minor surface cracks or feathering of willow fibres.
- Cosmetic marks resulting from normal ball impact.
- Gradual wear to the face, edges, shoulders or toe.
- Natural differences in grain structure, colour and wood density.
- Changes in performance or appearance resulting from extended use.
The age of a cricket bat alone does not determine whether damage is covered under warranty. The extent, frequency and nature of its use are also relevant.
A bat used extensively for training and matches may experience greater wear than a bat of the same age used occasionally.
Every claim will be assessed on its individual merits.
3. Bat Preparation and Maintenance
Correct preparation and ongoing maintenance are important for the performance and longevity of a cricket bat.
We strongly recommend:
- Appropriate knocking-in before match use.
- Application of an anti-scuff sheet or suitable protective facing.
- Installation and maintenance of a toe guard.
- Regular inspection for cracks, surface damage and moisture exposure.
- Prompt repair of damage before continued use.
- Storage in a cool, dry environment.
Failure to prepare or maintain a bat appropriately may contribute to damage and will be considered during a warranty assessment where relevant.
However, preparation and maintenance recommendations do not exclude statutory rights relating to genuine product defects.
4. Damage Generally Excluded from Commercial Warranty Coverage
Subject to applicable consumer law and the circumstances of each claim, commercial warranty coverage generally excludes damage caused by:
4.1 Normal Wear and Tear
- Surface cracking and feathering resulting from regular use.
- Gradual deterioration of the bat’s face, edges or toe.
- Cosmetic damage that does not indicate a manufacturing defect.
- Wear resulting from extensive training or match use.
4.2 Incorrect Preparation or Maintenance
- Inadequate knocking-in.
- Continued use after visible damage without appropriate repairs.
- Failure to maintain protective coverings or toe protection where reasonably necessary.
- Damage attributable to unsuitable preparation or maintenance.
4.3 Moisture and Environmental Damage
- Moisture penetration through the bat’s toe or exposed willow.
- Swelling, softening or deterioration caused by water exposure.
- Damage caused by excessive heat, prolonged sunlight or improper storage.
4.4 Impact and Misuse
- Toe damage caused by yorker-length deliveries or contact with the ground.
- Damage attributable to repeated use with bowling-machine balls, hard synthetic balls or other non-leather training balls.
- Accidental impact against hard surfaces.
- Use of equipment outside its intended purpose.
- Unauthorised modifications or repairs that cause or contribute to damage.
These exclusions apply only where the relevant cause of damage is established and where exclusion is permitted by law.
5. Warranty Claims After Six Months
Products that have been in regular use for more than six months are not automatically eligible for replacement or credit solely because of normal wear and tear.
However, claims will continue to be considered under any applicable additional manufacturer or commercial warranty.
A product’s age, frequency of use, maintenance history and the nature of the damage will be considered when determining the appropriate outcome.
Nothing in this section limits any applicable statutory rights.

Repair: Where an appropriate repair is available and legally permitted.
Replacement: Where a product qualifies for replacement under the applicable warranty or statutory rights.
Refund: Where a refund is required by law or otherwise agreed.
Warranty Claim Declined: Where the evidence establishes that the damage is not covered by the applicable warranty and no statutory remedy is due.
Paid Repair: Where damage falls outside warranty coverage, a repair quotation may be provided for customer approval.
No paid repair will be undertaken without the customer’s authorisation.
Where the Consumer Protection Act gives a customer the right to choose between repair, replacement or refund, that statutory choice will be respected.
8. Warranty Assessment Timeframes
We aim to process warranty assessments as efficiently as possible.
| Assessment Type | Estimated Timeframe |
|---|---|
| Initial photographic assessment | Usually 2–5 working days |
| Straightforward physical assessment | Usually 2–5 working days after receipt |
| Complex assessments or manufacturer referrals | Approximately 10–15 working days or longer |
These timeframes are estimates and may vary depending on the complexity of the claim, product availability and manufacturer involvement.
Customers will be informed where additional time is required.
9. Courier and Return Delivery Costs
Courier costs associated with warranty assessments will depend on the circumstances of the claim and applicable consumer legislation.
Where a product is confirmed to be defective and a statutory remedy applies, return and replacement arrangements will be handled in accordance with the customer’s legal rights, including applicable requirements for returns at the supplier’s risk and expense.
For damage outside warranty coverage, customers may be responsible for courier charges associated with returning the product or arranging paid repairs, where legally permissible and agreed.
Any applicable charges will be communicated before proceeding.
10. Consumer Protection and Statutory Rights
This policy operates alongside applicable South African legislation, including the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).
Consumers are entitled to statutory protections concerning defective, unsafe or unsuitable goods.
The CPA generally provides a six-month implied warranty of quality for qualifying goods, subject to its provisions.
Additional manufacturer or commercial warranties may provide protection beyond this statutory period.
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or override any rights or remedies available under applicable South African law.
